On May 19, State Grid ICT industry group completed the mesh ad hoc network application test based on tethered mesh communication UAV in Niantou Industrial Park, Changping District. Zhuoyi intelligent tethered UAV ts-a8, as the core carrier of the air relay operation of the test, cooperated with the completion of the test and explored a new solution for emergency communication.

Mesh ad hoc network is called "wireless cellular mesh network". It is a dynamic and continuously expandable network architecture, and any two devices can maintain wireless interconnection. Tethered UAV is a special form of multi rotor UAV. It connects the UAV with the ground through tethered cables, and supplies power to the UAV to make it hover at a specified height to perform tasks. The combination of mesh equipment and tethered UAV can quickly establish an emergency communication system and provide a dedicated network communication channel for individual equipment on the emergency site.

 

01 Efficient, stable and safe, providing a new scheme for emergency communication

It is understood that the mesh ad hoc network application test based on the tethered mesh communication UAV adopts "mesh equipment + Zhuoyi tethered UAV ts-a8". The test is oriented to emergency operation scenarios, focusing on the scenarios where the terrain environment in mountainous areas fluctuates greatly and the communication distance of the ground mesh ad hoc network is easily blocked by the environment. The Zhuoyi tethered UAV ts-a8 is used to carry the mesh equipment into the air as an air relay. The wireless broadband ad hoc network is built with the ground mesh equipment to provide a dedicated network communication channel for individual equipment on the emergency site. The test mainly covers three typical application scenarios of "air mesh + ground mesh", "air mesh + air mesh" and "ground mesh + air mesh + ground mesh", and focuses on the performance of the mesh transmission distance and service transmission rate.

Zhuoyi ts-a8 test site map can effectively increase the communication distance between mesh nodes and increase the network communication distance several times on the basis of ground personnel using wireless broadband mesh ad hoc network equipment and tethered mesh communication UAV, fully meeting the communication network coverage requirements of emergency operation site and command center under complex terrain environment.

 

02Promote the intelligence of emergency communication and change life with scientific and technological innovation

With the development of multi rotor UAV technology, communication relay tethered UAV has become a new form of communication technology。The application of tethered UAV in communication relay can give full play to its advantages of "high efficiency, long endurance, long distance and wide coverage", and quickly recover long-distance communication coverage in case of communication interruption. It can be widely used in emergency recovery communication scenarios such as various natural disasters (floods, typhoons, earthquakes, mudslides) and other large-scale activities that need to enhance signal coverage, providing a solid guarantee for emergency communication.
